Kick Out the Jamz.

I was out running with my boyfriend, iPod, and was turning around to head back when suddenly, out of nowhere!, Kenny Loggins hollered at me:
Dig way down in your heart, you're yearning, burning for some- somebody to tell you that life ain't passing you by! I'm trying to tell you it will if you don't even try. You can fly if you'd only cut loose, footloose! Kick off your Sunday shoes!
And do you know what I did? Well I just kept on runnin'. Yes, sir. That is EXACTLY what I did for another mile or so- just cuttin' loose. FOOTLOOSE.

It's like when I run and all of a sudden, I think, "Yes! YES!!! We ARE a part of The Rhythm Nation!" (Thank you, Miss Janet-If-You're-Nasty.) And then I noticed the inordinate amount of LL Cool J on my Dance, Dance Revolution playlist (which I also like to run to, and sometimes maybe wave my arms around and sing along), and I wondered:
What's on YOUR Kick Out The Jams playlist? What makes you want to cut loose, footloose? What knocks Mama out?
Feel free to post as many suggestions as often as you like. There's nothing I like more than sharing a new playlist with iPod!

Off the top of my head (because they worked this evening):

It's My Life- No Doubt version
Stop! The Love You Save- Jackson 5
Invincible- OK GO
DANGER! High Voltage- Electric Six
Groove is in the Heart- Dee-lite
Superfreak- Rick James (biatch!)
Hot Stuff- Donna Summer
Ah-Ha- Under the Influence of Giants (this whole album rocks me for at LEAST 5 miles)
Ghetto Superstar- Mya
Young Hearts Run Free- Kym Mazelle

Seriously. Many-a-time I've been about to turn around, but just keep on running because iPod is JUST. THAT. GOOD. I'm so lucky to be in such a giving, supportive relationship. I hope you all have what we have someday.

Hmmm. I think I too like Kenny Loggins:
I'm Alright!

I also like his best friend and co-writer Michael MacDonald. Who doesn't enjoy a little "What a Fool Belives" to get their day pumped!

um, i'm pretty sure it's "Janet...Ms. Jackson if you're nasty."

and i think that the MC5's "Kick out the Jams" is the best song to kick out your jams to ever. Plus, it started the riots at the '68 Democratic convention in Chicago. Plus, those guys started a White Panther party.

If you're looking for a song to get you pumped up, here's the greatest get-you-fired-up song in the history of get-you-fired-up songs, accompanied by perhaps the awesomest montage in the history of montages.

I need to kick someone in the face.

There is a Basement Jaxx song called "Good Luck" that never fails to increase my heart rate.

You ARE a white panther, my sweet. rawr.

Basement Jaxx is ALWAYS good stuff.

I don't remember Ralph Macchio being that young...Wow. Has it really been this long since the 80s?

All I can think about is when you and I went running together (before our fake crab and crackers snack) and you were like lightning...maybe that's why you ran so fast... you were running to kenny Loggins.

ps: my mom always gets the house clean in a jiffy when listening to any JOCK JAMS concoction, namely: "The Thong Song" (she doesn't know what it really means), "PUMP, PUMP THE JAM", and most importantly Gloria Estafan's high gear "RYTHEM IS GONNA GET'CHA"..... my mom is a smart lady. I've gotta go buy some Jock JAms now...

You know exactly how much "The Th--g Song" embarasses me. Don't ever mention it again. Please.

And I run fast simply because my legs are approximately 8.75" shorter than yours (and everyone else in the country), so I have grown accustomed to moving double-time- simply to keep up with the rest of the population.

Besides. I only met iPod in '007. It just SEEMS like we've been together for years simply because we are a match made in techno-heaven. *sigh.* iPod.
